What is CBPR?
This project used an approach based on Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR). CBPR leads to change by partnering with communities in the research process to improve health and well-being in those same communities:
Community members, organizations and researchers are involved in all aspects of the research process.
Participants can talk about the issue/problem, listen to other community members, and come up with solutions in a small group setting.
Your participation provides a greater understanding of your community.
Your input helps shape policies and services that are tailored to your community’s needs.
Better services lead to a better quality of life for you and the other people in your community.
Why is CBPR important?
It provides specific information for the Minnesota Department of Human Services to assess which services are needed for pregnant or parenting people in each community and how and where to provide those services.
Helps solve disparities in behavioral healthcare between communities.
Allows you to directly communicate with governmental and healthcare organizations about the issue.
Have your voice heard to help MN DHS expand and tailor its behavioral health services to your community. Click here for more information about CBPR.
